Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (maida)
  • ½ cup water (adjust as needed)
  • A pinch of salt

For the filling:

  • 1 cup finely shredded cabbage
  • 1 small carrot, grated
  • ½ cup finely chopped capsicum (bell pepper)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, minced
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped (optional, for spice)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)

Instructions:

1. Make the dough:

  1. Mix flour and salt in a bowl.
  2. Gradually add water and knead into a smooth, soft dough.
  3. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20–30 minutes.

2. Prepare the filling:

  1. Mix all the chopped vegetables, garlic, ginger, green chilies, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

3. Shape the momos:

  1. Divide the dough into small balls.
  2. Roll each ball into a thin circle, about 3–4 inches in diameter.
  3. Place 1–2 tsp of filling in the center.
  4. Fold and pleat the edges to seal the momo (half-moon shape or round pouch).

4. Steam the momos:

  1. Heat water in a steamer.
  2. Place the momos on a lightly greased steaming tray.
  3. Steam for 10–12 minutes until the dough is cooked and slightly translucent.

5. Serve:

  • Serve hot with spicy chili garlic sauce, soy sauce, or tomato chutney.
